Safety Leadership

Building and maintaining an effective safety culture is all about leadership. From setting a strong set of policies to leading by example with personal actions, the skills and behaviours of leaders at all levels is a definite foundation.

Defining the direction

A sustained safety culture is led by all, and that certainly includes senior leaders. Using our 5 C's Sustainable Change Model, we work with senior teams to explore the strategic aims, the challenges and the leadership and management practices needed to enable a safety culture to be maintained.

We use our high impact drama techniques to explore the mindsets, attitudes and behaviours which are needed to guide and inspire real change in themselves and in the teams they lead.

More than safety

We work with senior teams to define and lead behavioural expectations, and critically to understand and improve their own personal leadership impact.

Safety leadership is about creating a workplace where everyone feels positively supported and challenged to do their best. We focus on developing both the practical skills and the enabling mindsets of leaders in order to build an engaged culture. The development helps leaders to deliver their outcomes in many aspects of their role including safety.

Client feedback
The session was all that I hoped for as the guys were all fully engaged with the session (which is what I wanted) and both Dan and Dave nailed the delivery of the key message around challenging unsafe behaviours and having those difficult conversations. The afternoon session of any meeting/conference is always a tough gig, especially when its been H&S all morning via Powerpoint, but Dave and Dan were able to get the guys fully engaged. The feedback we had from the delegates; in fact, I think all but one of the 46 that attended under the “what did you enjoy most” question stated the “2macs” which absolutely says it all! 100% I will be contacting you again very soon!
Gavin Evans
HS&E Senior Manager Wales & West Utilities Ltd
2macs were able to give our team a good understanding of why good teamwork is critical to our success in a remote and hostile environment and, equally importantly, the potential impact when things go wrong. We are confident that our staff are departing for Antarctica better equipped to deal with the challenges they will face.

Logistics Co-ordinator, The British Antarctic Survey
The 2macs workshops really brought our health and safety culture to life by providing engaging and thought provoking events. Their delivery methods were energetic and provided a different perspective on how we think about health and safety, which has resulted in safety habits being changed forever.
Louise Terry
L&D Manager, The Royal Mint
The feedback recently has been extremely encouraging, ranging from “never experienced anything like this before” to, “wow, so the guys really get this”.
